Most calls start with one problem: a breaker that keeps tripping, a dead outlet, lights that flicker or dim, or a switch that's warm to the touch. We find the cause before we replace anything. A tripping breaker can be an overloaded circuit, a failing appliance or a loose connection in the panel, and each one has a different fix. The Electrical Safety Foundation's home wiring safety guide lists the warning signs worth acting on, including scorch marks, buzzing outlets and breakers that won't reset. If you see any of those, shut off that circuit and call. See our electrical troubleshooting page for what a diagnostic visit covers.
Call us right away for a burning smell, sparking, a panel that's hot to the touch, or half the house without power. Our last breaker emergency was a corroded exterior panel on a Sunday, replaced within a few hours. If the whole street is dark, the problem is the utility's, not yours. Report it to JCP&L at 1-888-544-4877 or to PSE&G first. If only your house is out, or one side of the panel is dead, that's ours. Emergency service calls typically run $499–$699 depending on the problem.

We post our rates so you know what you're paying before we show up. A service call is $199 and includes the first 30 minutes of diagnosis. Labor after that is $75 per 30 minutes. If the job needs a second electrician or helper, that adds $55 an hour. Emergency calls typically run $499–$699. We explain any added charge, such as materials or a permit, before the work starts.
Panel upgrades, generators, EV chargers and new circuits need an electrical permit in New Jersey. We pull it and meet the inspector.
